LIBERTO JOURNAL / THE FRAGRANCE EDIT
A signature fragrance should feel like part of you, not a uniform you're expected to wear. There is no universal perfect scent: the one you return to is often the one that feels right in your own life.
For Liberto, fragrance starts with character. Our five Eau de Parfums have individual personalities, from quiet sophistication to creative street culture. Here's how to discover the one that speaks to you.
1. Begin with the feeling, not the bottle
Before reading a list of ingredients, think about the atmosphere you want your fragrance to bring to mind. Is your style understated or expressive? Do you want something for a working day, an evening out or a change of pace? These are useful starting points, not rules. The same scent can belong in more than one setting.
2. Meet the five Liberto characters
Old Bond — The Sophisticated Traveller
Inspired by tailored style, art and travel. Old Bond's listed notes move from sweet, spicy citrus into a fresh floral and earthy heart, with woods, musk and vanilla in the base. Explore Old Bond.
Carnaby — The Creative Original
For those drawn to independent fashion and street culture. Carnaby opens with ozonic notes, pink pepper and bergamot, then develops blackcurrant, jasmine and lilac over musk, ambergris and patchouli. Explore Carnaby.
South Molton — After-Dark Energy
Outgoing, social and ready for the next experience. The fragrance opens with citrus, sweet and green notes; the heart is floral, fresh and musky, while woods, vanilla and spice shape the base. Explore South Molton.
Cody's Oud — Driven by Adventure
Built around an active, curious character. Its notes include a sweet, fresh and green opening, an herbal, floral and lemon heart, and a woody, vanilla and spicy base. Explore Cody's Oud.
Kings Road — Confident Individuality
Fashion-forward, expressive and at ease in a busy city. Bergamot, herbal and berry opening notes lead towards lavender leaf, floral notes and lemon zest, finishing with musk, woods and amber. Explore Kings Road.
3. Wear your shortlist before deciding
Reading notes helps narrow the field, but the final decision belongs on your skin. Try one fragrance at a time, or no more than a small shortlist, and see how each develops beyond the initial spray. The opening can be quite different from the scent you notice later. Take notes about what you enjoy rather than chasing a promised number of hours.
If your skin reacts to fragrance, avoid further application; don't apply perfume to broken or irritated skin.
4. Find your own route into Liberto
Prefer a quick starting point? Find Your Liberto uses three questions about personality, surroundings and notes. Or compare two fragrances to see their characters and note structures side by side.
For a more personal test, the Liberto Discovery Set brings together five individual 5ml samples. Experience each on your own terms before selecting a full-size fragrance.
One last thought: a signature scent isn't necessarily the only scent you'll ever wear. It is simply one you feel at home wearing today.
